Calendula (Calendula officinalis), often called pot marigold, is a vibrant flowering plant native to the Mediterranean region. For centuries, it has been cherished in traditional herbal medicine for its remarkable ability to calm irritation, soothe sensitive skin, and support the skin's natural healing process. Today, calendula remains one of nature's most trusted botanicals for nourishing dry, delicate, and easily irritated skin and is a key ingredient in our Baby Balm formula.

Rich in Protective Antioxidants
Calendula petals are naturally abundant in carotenoids, including lutein, beta-carotene, lycopene, flavoxanthin, and auroxanthin. These antioxidant compounds help neutralize free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS), protecting the skin from everyday environmental stressors that contribute to premature aging and irritation. By helping defend against oxidative stress, calendula supports healthier, more resilient skin.
Calming and Restoring the Skin
Calendula also contains a rich array of bioactive compounds, including terpenoids, triterpenoids, and phenolic acids. Together, these naturally occurring plant compounds provide antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory benefits that help calm redness, reduce itchiness, and support the skin's protective barrier. Its gentle nature makes calendula especially well suited for sensitive or easily irritated skin.
Gentle Care for Everyday Skin Irritations
Calendula has long been used to comfort skin experiencing dryness and minor irritation. It is commonly incorporated into skincare products designed to support diaper rash, dermatitis, eczema flare-ups, superficial wounds, insect bites, postpartum nipple care, tattoo aftercare, and areas of severely dry or chapped skin. Because every skin concern is different, calendula is generally not recommended for weeping skin, infected wounds, deep cuts, fresh burns, or poison ivy, where other forms of care may be more appropriate.
Traditionally Crafted Through Herbal Infusion
Our calendula herbal oil is created by slowly infusing dried calendula petals into extra-virgin olive oil. This traditional method uses no heat or synthetic ingredients, allowing the oil to gently absorb the flower's naturally beneficial compounds while preserving their integrity. The result is a rich botanical oil that delivers calendula's soothing and restorative properties in one beautifully simple ingredient.
